NORTH WIND believes a clear model was given in the new testament as it concerns leading and conducting ministry in the church. "The 5" govern all ministry that occurs at NWC. Biblical reference and explanation concerning "The 5" can be found in Ephesians 4:10-13 (MSG):
10 And the One who climbed down is the One who climbed back up, up to highest heaven. He handed out gifts above and below, filled heaven with his gifts, 11 filled earth with his gifts. He handed out gifts of apostle, prophet, evangelist, and pastor- teacher 12 to train Christians in skilled servant work, working within Christ's body, the church, 13 until we're all moving rhythmically and easily with each other, efficient and graceful in response to God's Son, fully mature adults, fully developed within and without, fully alive like Christ.
THE FIVE
- APOSTLE: Oversees the operations and functions of the church and can be identified as the administrative or executive leadership.
- PROPHET: North Wind sees this role as one who points/directs the church to the path that best positions it to achieve purpose and vision. This office also forecasts conditions that might dictate a course correction.
- EVANGELIST: At North Wind, sharing the message is not a goal but a mandate. The Evangelist is essential to the vision of our church being missionally minded in that we strive to be as effective outside the walls of the building as we are inside of it. There are three areas this office oversees specifically: Missions, Communications and Relationships.
- PASTOR: The role of the pastor is to Shepherd, lead, connect, challenge, instruct and care for the church body.
- TEACHER: We view the role of Teacher through the rabbinical role Christ exemplified during his earthly ministry. The teacher oversees all levels of discipleship and is responsible for challenging the church to grow in love and understanding through study and faith.
